My cat has been obsessed with the chimney today.  She has been scratching at it all day (we have a wood stove)  so I am in here eating lunch with DD.  Suddenly a bird comes flying out of the fireplace my cat launches herself off of the top of the fire place, catches the bird in mid air and proceeded to wrestle it to the floor.  The bird got away and flew into the living room the cat caught it again and streaked to under a chair in the play room.   I screamed like a little girl.  It startled the crap right outta me. It was still alive.  It came flying back into the kitchen.  I caught it with a mixing bowl and pot lid (it was easy and very skill fully done i might add. Sure once I put the bowl behind it, it jumped right in and I didn't really need the pot lid.  It was just happy to be away from the cat) and let it out, outside.  DD was terrified. She was sitting in her high chair flapping her hands up and down and crying. After I came back into the kitchen once the bird was outside I picked up DD and she pointed at the window where I caught the bird and she was telling me all about it.  She gave me a hug and then wanted back to her lunch.   I like to think she was saying "thanks for saving me from that awful bird mom"   I have cleaned all the feathers up, her plastic toys are now in the tub filled with bleach and her soft toys are in the washing machine on sanitize.  When we get back from the park and she goes for her nap I will wash all the floors and pass a vacuum.
