I definitely do not have a green thumb, and need a little advice.
I am not sure if it's too late and I need to wait until fall, but I have a few Potentilla shrubs that could really stand to be cleaned up a bit. The buds are on the branches and I can see hints of the green leaves, but none have opened up yet.
Is it too late [as in I should wait until after a few frosts in the fall] to cut some of the stems back where I would risk damage to the plant? Or do I still have a bit of time?
If it matters, I am in SE Wisconsin and average temps are 50's - 60's during the day and 30's - 40's at night right now.
Thanks for the help!!

Re: Pruning Question
You could prune them now if you wanted to (be sure to cut just above the buds), but be warned that pruning now will cause them to grow like crazy
Thanks! I appreciate the help / advice!
Maybe I'll do do a minimal amount to clean them up and get rid of the dead stems and then do more in the fall.
Thanks again!
