Hi - I don't really post on here often. But just wanted to say I recently moved to Staten Island from NJ, when I married my husband (a nyc firefighter) in October. Looking for new doctors, specifically a gyn. that accepts GHI insurance, and is located near the south shore (but I'm flexible with this part).
TIA!

Re: Staten Island - ob/gyn
Not sure if he accepts GHI but I know myself and a few other nesties go to:
Dr. Rapp and he is in the oakwood/newdorp area so not to far from the south shore.

thanks!
one more thing.... any Female docs? I'm not opposed to male, I've just always gone to a female.
I also go to Rapp, I've always liked him. For some reason I've never felt comfortable with female doctors, so I can't help you there. I know MrsDe's ob/gyn is supposed to be really good too, but it's another male.
Welcome to the island, what area are you in?
I went to one female and I wasn't that thrilled with her...her name was Dr. Priolo, my SIL I believe goes to Dr. Pessolano...I found this list while googling for Priolo's new address:

I should add there was nothing wrong with Dr. Priolo, I just wasn't thrilled with her. It was more convience when I lived in Great Kills...but she moved to the north shore I believe which is out for you, but its an option
Nova is right...I love my Dr.! He's kind, compassionate with excellent bedside manners. I've also went to a female Dr. many many years ago (she was my 1st before my current Dr....I think I saw her twice before I switched) but, I did not like her at all...I believe her name was Dr. Syed or Sayed...something like that.). Anyway, my Dr's info (if you're interested) is:
Dr. Durgam (718) 720-4130 and he's located on Ralph Place (near the old Dr's hospital) between Richmond Rd. and Targee Street. I know it's the North shore, but I plan to continue seeing him even when I move to NJ, so the trip doesn't bother me. Good luck with whomever you choose..
P.S. All this Dr. talk I forgot to welcome you to the board and congratulate you. Welcome and congrats!
Thanks for all the suggestions (and welcome)... looks like male is the way to go on the island.
I'm in the rossville/woodrow area. I'm still learning my way around the island, even though my husband is from the island and we've been together for 4 years (i'm terrible with directions!)
Hey, I don't post often but I thought I could help here.
I'm like you, I prefer to see a woman. I've been seeing Betsy Lisi for years, but she's only gynecology. She's at Gateway OBGYN on Cromwell Avenue, around the New Dorp area. She is wonderful, very quick and makes you feel very comfortable. The wait in the office can sometimes be long though.
If there is ever a baby in my future, I plan on seeing Dr. Marie Vartolo, her office is on Slosson Avenue. I have several friends who've used her, and they say she's stern but she really knows her stuff.
You probably live right near me, I live in Huguenot now but recently moved from the Rossville/Woodrow area. Welcome to the neighborhood
