After blowing through our tax refund at the speed of light, we've found that there's no monies left for our master bath shower. We originally talked about doing a mud tile shower or a quartz shower, but to keep with the plan we'd have to wait and save for several months. I do not want to wait anymore, I just want to be done renovating. We've been living in a construction zone since mid-January!!!
So our solution: buying the white fiberglass siding that you see in most showers. I have mixed emotions about this. On the positive side: we could theoretically be done renovating this weekend, and it will match the guest bath. On the negative side: its not very original, and the resale is not as great.
DH says we can upgrade with next years tax refund. So...I guess we're doing it!
Re: We decided to go cheap...
When I purchased my house in Tempe- I did a lot of renovating, and did a lot of it for what I thought would be added resale value.
Honestly, in the end, it doesn't make a lick of difference if you have a gorgeous shower or a fiber glass one- what you want could be completely different then what someone else wants. I spent a FORTUNE on doing a custom tiled, doorless shower with block glass entry way- ya the people who live there now, ripped it out and put in fiber glass.
When it comes to renovating and "customizing" your home- no one will ever feel the same way about it as you do- so do what you want.
and I agree with this. I wouldn't upgrade that for the potential resale value of it...I'd just do it because it's something that you want and makes you happy
Thank you girls! I'm just so sick of sleeping in our guest bedroom, and we have barely unpacked. Our master bedroom looks like a bomb went off in there. So I am pretty content with this decision.
We're upgrading b/c the shower that was in there had black mold, ha, so that was a must!
Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
