Does anyone else have a dog that will try to jump out the window of a moving vehicle??? Luk tried to jump out last week, and it was awful and hilarious all at the same time. When I told my husband he said he has never heard of a dog actually trying to jump out. Well this co-worker of his that also has GSDs told him that ALL three of his dogs are the same...so now I am wondering if is a breed specific thing?
Re: This silly dog
A few weeks ago I spent an entire Sat. morning chasing down a little dog who jumped out of the back window of his owner's moving car. It was well over an hour before the owner even realized the dog wasn't in the car anymore. don't recommend rolling windows down so far that they can jump out. Actually, I recommend restraining, but understand it's not possible in some cars.
I actually put him in the back-back of my explorer. That day I had rolled the windows down to let the air in because it was hot. He jumped into the second row and stuck his head out while I was driving. I thought it was hilarious because he was loving the wind in his adorable doggie face. Then one paw goes out the window. Then the next. His shoulders....his whole upper body. Now I was driving slowly down a winding road ...BUT I was still terrified. I was screaming at him and he just was ready to make the final move. I had to stop the car with him hanging his whole body out and I was freaking out. I put him the way back again and would not put the windows down.
I can't believe that the owner of that dog you chased did not notice that his/her dog jumped out! How does one not notice that???
HA. He was probably like, "F****" when he felt himself start to slide out. LOL.
No but Simon knows how to roll down the windows so we have to have the child safety locks on! If we forget and he gets the window open, he will stand on the button so we can't get it back up. He is such a twirp!
He scares the bejeezus out of me when we are on an on-ramp or off ramp of a highway, he tends to do it during that point.
My childhood dog jumped out the window once when he was a puppy and was missing for a day. That sounds like an interesting car ride w/Luk though!
Christa, I love you, but this is never ever ever hilarious. Even if the window was up enough so that all he could get out was his head. If a rock can crack our windshields, what do you think it could do to poor Luk's face? Even a bug flying by and hitting him in the eye could blind him. If he's in the back and it's hot out you gotta just use your AC, or make sure the windows are up enough that he can't get any body parts out.
Umm...yes J I thought it was hilarious that Luk had the wind in his face. I was on a country road going about 15 miles an hour. If I had realized that he was going to actually climb into the second row I obviously would not have rolled the windows down to begin with. I was driving and he climbed over and at first when it was just his face...yes I thought it was cute and funny. I am not one of those people you see who lets their dog hang out the window while they drive....when we had Yuri I never opened the windows....but I had a regular car. With the SUV I thought Luk would enjoy the fresh breeze in the back.
Okay. I am sorry for being so sensitive.
No worries. Trust me you'd know if I was giving you attitude (as you have witnessed it before
)
