Prop 100 Poll- What are your thoughts?
With May 18th around the corner, and so much information flying around, I thought I'd see what peoples thoughts on Prop 100 are.[Poll]
Re: Prop 100 Poll- What are your thoughts?
I could SO get on a soapbox about this issue, but I feel like I've been doing enough of that on facebook lately.
So, I'll leave it at, yes, I will absolutely be voting yes on Prop 100. I think the legislature has left public education in a dismal place with the utterly ridiculous slashing of the budget (not just cuts - it's like if Jason came to town with a hatchet) - way more so than I think most people realize. On Monday, 45 teachers were laid off at my (now former - long story there) high school. 45!!!!! That leaves 35 teachers on staff guaranteed a job for next year - with like 2000 kids!! If you do the math - it is over 60 kids per classroom. So, um, yes. I'm voting yes.
It makes me furious that it comes to this, and I think the legislature needs a swift kick in the butt, but I cannot even fathom the state of education if this doesn't pass (let alone the other aspects of the proposition).
Well, ok, that's a small soap box, but still. It could be a lot worse from me...
Ditto both PPs.
If this prop doesn't pass my district will lose many teachers, specialists and social workers. Our class size will increase dramatically.
We will also have furlough days again and not get our salaries restored. We took a salary reduction last year and I truly can't remember the last time we got an increase.
We will also not have money for substitutes, which is crazy to me. I guess we would all be coming to work sick or covering classes anytime a teacher is out.
Funding for education in Arizona is so low. I really can't imagine what will happen with even less money...
