We really need a BC board...

Because once again, I have a question. I've been looking online trying to find an answer but I'm getting mixed reviews. What are you suppose to do if you miss 3 pills in a row. I figured maybe I could get some good advice on here from those of you who take oral contraceptives.

Re: We really need a BC board...

  • I've missed 3 pills in a row before - I went and got the Plan B pill then kept following my pack like normal.

  • I would call the pharmacy where you get the Rx. I would think it may depend on what type you take and hormone level. I was on a very low dose version and when i missed, my pharmacist told me to double up the next day, or in your case, double up for 2 days until you get back on track, but i would call. GL
  • It should say what to do in the literature that comes with your pills.

  • How can you forget to take 3 pills?????

Use a backup method such as condoms and if you can't remember to take your pills then time to use something like the nuva ring, IUD or Depo.

  • The paper that comes with your pills will tell you what to do. If you've missed this many pills, you should probably choose a different contraceptive method that doesn't require an every day commitment.

  • Tri-phasic BC usually tells you that if you miss three days straight, you need to go with a secondary method of BC and start a new pack.  But there should have been instructions on what to do in this situation that came with the pack.  If you can't find that, call a pharmacist or your doc; they're the ones who are paid to know this stuff.
When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

  • I'd be calling my doc ASAP. In the meantime, use other methods of birth control for at least a week maybe longer. I can't remember what the info packet says.

  • I've done this by going out of town and forgetting to pack the pills.  Use a back-up method for the rest of the cycle and double up for the next three days.  ie:  On Monday take Monday's pill and the first one you missed.  Tuesday take Tuesday's pill and the second one you missed.  Wednesday take Wednesday's pill and the third you've missed.  Thursday back to normal.

At least, that's how I've been told to deal with the situation for the pills I've been on over the past 13 years.  Of course, you should read your pamphlet or check with your Dr./Pharmacy.

  • I missed 3 pills once (out of town without medicine) and read in the literature for my pills that basically your cycle starts again....but that was the particular pill I was on at that time....like everyone else said, read the literature that comes with your pills or call your doctor/pharmacist if you don't have it anymore.
