potentially dumb question... we're going tonight to look at some dishwashers so we can use the TX rebate
do we need to somehow disconnect/pull out our current dishwasher to measure how deep the opening is?? our current dishwasher was installed probably around the mid 90's -- are standard dishwasher dimensions the same still??
could i just measure counter depth??
Re: replacing a dishwasher?
I'm getting a new dishwasher, too!
I think dishwashers are all standard depth, so whatever you find should fit. When I replaced the dishwasher in my old house (home built in '93 or so), I only measured the dishwasher door to make sure I got the same width. Turns out most are the same width. At the time, I didn't even consider the depth, and it worked out just fine.
Have fun shopping!

Nope, I just started doing some research on consumer reports, and planned to do a little pre-shopping tonight on the way home.
In my old house, the dishwasher was a Kenmore, and I loved it. The dishwasher in my current house is a 1985 whirlpool brand, and it still works okay. So, I'm leaning towards those brands but am still open.
Do you know what kind you'll get?

i was just checking Consumer Reports too. I'm leaning towards Whirlpool cause they seem to be cheaper than the Kenmore's but almost as good reviews, and whirlpool is available more places so we can price compare.
i'm trying to keep the price around $400.... i'll let ya know if we find any deals!
