Suggestions part shade shrubs, beside hydrangea?

I have an area where azaleas and mt. fire pieris do really well, but I want something that will bloom mid summer or late summer so it's not so boring.  I love hydrangeas, but I'm putting them on the other side of my yard, so I thought I'd try something different.  Thanks!

  • i am interested to see what answers you'll get.  i have a shade area where i debated putting in azaleas.  hydrangea are beautiful but seem like too much work.
sometimes all you really need in life is a pink wig.
  • Hostas do really well in full shade to part shade...

  • Hydrangeas work well in my area, I just wanted some variety.  I'll probably underplant with hosta, but I'm looking for something bigger to fill in the space between the azaleas.  Thanks ladies!

  • I'm really into snowball bushes right now!
  • While it doesn't really bloom like an azalea or hydrangea, ornamental rosemary grows well in partial sun/shade.  I had it lining the side of my house for a long time and it would occasionally bloom small, purple flowers.  The variety I had wasn't one that I would use to cook with, but it did have a nice aroma.

  • I've planted caladium bulbs in the spring and they've bloomed during the summer.  Its a leafy plant but they have pretty colors.  I call them watermelon colors because they have pinks and greens of different shades.
