Anyone heard the new football rule about taunting? Wtf. I guess they're trying to take all the fun out of the game.
Meanwhile, Mississippi State is allowed to use the cowbells like it's their mother effing job.
Wtg.
Re: Shame on you, NCAA.
Well... eye black with messages IS pretty stupid. I can see some kids lacking common sense and taking it too far with an ad or inside joke/offensive message. It's not like messages on your eye black are essential to the game of football.
I can also see that schools might not want to have the messages seen as a reflection of the school or team, as opposed to the individual... Know what I mean? Wasn't there a player who write "Mike Vick" on his eye black? Perhaps the rule has more to do with that player, than with Tebow.
Are eye black messages allowed in the NFL or does that fall under the uniform/professional appearance policy or something like that?
Not quite. They didn't want to tackle the religious backlash that probably would have gone ape *** on the NCAA.
That too. What I'm saying is that the NCAA is not punishing Tim Tebow. They would never consider such a thing.
The taunting rule is dumb.
The eyeblack...I can see where they were going with that, but it's a little too late. No one's gonna care about it now that Tebow's gone and his face isn't all over the place. I LOVE Tebow, don't get me wrong, but the whole eyeblack thing really didn't come to the forefront until after he started doing it. I didn't see a problem with it, but I can see how some people could take it too far and cause an uproar.
I'm not knocking Tebow as an athlete, but the way the NCAA treated him was obnoxious. Too little, too late.

Yeah, that was Ohio State's very own Terrelle Pryor. I'm pretty sure that after that, Tressel handed down the team "no messages on your eye black" rule, as Pryor definitely got some negative publicity for that move and the last thing that team needs is bad publicity. I know that personally I wanted to smack him upside the head and say WTF did you think you were doing but that's just me.
But if I had to hazard a guess as to who the rule has more to do with, Pryor or Tebow, I'd have to go with Tebow. Not as an Ohio State fan, but because Pryor did what he did one time before the coach said "Uh no way buddy" whereas Tebow has his stuff on his eye black for every.single.game. (at least, every single game that I saw-if that's not the case then sorry). The NCAA as a whole doesn't need negative publicity, and daring to stop Tebow from putting Bible verses on his eye black during the season likely would have raised a_shitstorm.
FWIW, I don't think messages on eye black is necessary at all, whether it be in college FB or the NFL.
The taunting rule gets a big ol' eyeroll from me.
Also, just thinking about the eyeblack thing, Reggie Bush was doing it before Tim Tebow - he always had his area code on his eyeblack.
