Doggie ACL Surgery and rambling
So I posted yesterday about vet reommendations in WF/N Raleigh. We are very happy with our vet, however I have found it to be quite common to get a second estimate for surgeries. My little girl dog, Sami has a herniated disc, that luckily for now has been treated with strict crate confinement and anti-inflammatories. We literally have to pick her up to go outside, no jumping, no nothing! We have built ramps in our house and everything. Well now her back is doing great. Saturday we notice she started walking with only 3 legs. Her left hind leg was withdrawn. So we upped her meds. I decided to take her to the vet on Thursday. And whatd ya know- she has completely torn her ACL. I tore mine in high school, so I already know how much "fun" we are about to have. I've got several estimates on the surgery, and should have something scheduled next week to have her surgery. So doggy moms pray for me. We are about to have a 15 lb ball of energy, confinded to a crate for at least 8 weeks. And to top it off, they say there is over a 50% chance that she will tear her other ACL due to over-compensating during the recovery. Oh joy.
