Bridal shower question..

Hey ladies ?
I?m going to be throwing a bridal shower for my best friend the end of July.. and I haven?t a clue where to start. I eloped so I never had one, and I?ve only ever been to 2 in my life. One was a tea party held at a location that is no longer in business, and the other was a very boring event at the Rose Gardens with no food and no beverages.. Just hanging out and gifts.. *yawn*

So, where in Portland is the best place to hold a summer bridal shower? What should we do? Would a brunch be fun? I mean, with mimosas and all, doesn?t get more fun than that! I need ideas ladies! Help me out here! :)

Thanks!

Re: Bridal shower question..

  • I just went to a bridal shower in March that was held at the bride's home, hosted by her sister in law. Some food and drinks were provided and there were some games. It was really low key. Don't know if that helps or not. :-)
  • The bridal showers i've been too and are most familiar with have been held in someone's home (bride or parents of bride or groom).  They are low key, with food, drink, dessert, games and presents.  The guest list will determine the kinda stuff you'll be doing.  Did the bride give you a guest list?  If its a small and intimate group, you guys can cut loose a bit. If it is a bunch of older family members who are more formal, than perhaps a more formal shower is in order (tea house style).  The number of guests will also determine where it can be held.

It sounds like a picnic might be kinda fun. As host you'd need to make sure to either bring the food or get a group to agree to bring food (and drinks).  a quick google search and you can find a bunch of bridal shower games to play.

  • My bridal shower was at the Lavender Tea House in Sherwood.  We had several different types of tea, sandwiches and pastries.  We didn't have games but had a little room that was perfect for chatting and gift-opening.

There is another tea house in Lake Oswego.  It is more European-themed, but the same idea.  They have little sandwiches, pastries and teas.  Really cute and would be perfect for a shower.
