my sister & I want to take my mom out for the day on a girls trip. We live in the suburbs & wanted ideas of 'girly' things to do that don't cost a lot (no spa). We could go to the city or suburbs. Galena is too far of a drive for one day, so that's out. I was thinking a vineyard tour (there's ones in Geneva & Long Grove) and there's a winery tasting (Roselle, no vineyard), or St. Charles has a riverboat cruise. We like to walk around, lunch, see cute shops & be outside. We would take her sometime now-June. Any suggestions of what to do?
Re: day trip ideas with mom
I'd pick a cute neighborhood (Old Towne, Lincoln Park & Wicker Park or even Lincoln Square) to have a nice lunch (al fresco) and then go walking around to the shops and what not. Stop for some ice cream or italian ice.
Or maybe you can check out a place where you can make/paint your own pottery? That might be fun if you're crafty ladies.
