Lettuce question - really dumb.

We usually grown tomatoes, bean etc. but planted some bib and butter lettuce this year.  Do we just chop off leaves as we want or wait for some "sign" that its "ready."

Usually with the other things we have grown, there is a ripe period to pick.  With lettuce, I'm just not sure.

Lettuce is easy.  Just snip it off when it's the size you want.  There really isn't a "ripe."  I always cut the outer leaves so that my plants keep producing. the only hting to look out for is if it gets too hot and your greens bolt.  But only certain greens do that.
  • Thank you. Good to know.  I'm still quite a newbie and we just plant a bunch of random things and see what works.  I might have to have a small salad tonight. Wink
