need help for housewarming party

i just got married a month ago almost and my friends thought it would be a good idea for him and i to throw a housewarming party. the problem is, we've had to purchase neccesseties for the apartment. i want the housewarming to be kind of classy but it will have to be cheap. so i need to think of ideas to serve my guests. i will roughly have 10 to 15 guests. i dont know. can you hel me???

Presentation, presentation, presentation.  There is a big difference between buying a veggie platter from your local deli then putting the plastic container out for the party and buying the veggie platter, but taking the time to arrange on a glass plate.  If you don't feel like you don't have a lot of serving pieces, then borrow.  Candles are cheap, but get give a really nice feel (I'd do scentless candles for those who have allergies).  You can also pick out some soft background music - soft enough for people to converse but loud enough for people to hear the music.  Lastly, I'd pick up some flowers and arrange them in a vase. I can get a nice bunch from my local supermarket for $7. 

Are you looking at this event being a sit down dinner or are you going to have apps and drinks?  What is your budget?

I totally agree with this post...nice way to keep it simple and stress free.
