Gardening accessory - anyone know?
hello ladies. DH is big into planting and growing. He's not very successful yet, but he's getting better. He's set up a growing station in my kitchen and it's driving me mad! I'm looking to buy him some kind of garden station for the back yard or garage. Something that he can store his dirt and and utensils in that also has some work space. I thought this would be simple to find, but turns out it's not. Do you know of any websites that might have them, or stores? The big box stores around us didn't have anything. TIA

Re: Gardening accessory - anyone know?
are you talking about a potting bench?
You could make your own by getting some base cabinets & putting a board on top for a workspace. Some baker's racks (like you find at a thrift store) could suit your purpose as well.
I think most gardener's DIY their potting benches b/c the premade ones are pricey! (and hard to find)
I had the toughtest time finding a potting bench last year. A few years ago you could buy them everywhere but not anymore. What I did manage to find online was either cheap and flimsy or super expensive.
I ended up making a potting bench from a thrift store china cabinet. You can see what I did here. However, I keep it on my covered patio and this isn't something I'd keep open to the elements because the weather would really take a toll. It would be perfect for a garage though.
They are hard to find, World Market had one last year but it was expensive and probably not the best quality. An unfinished wood store might also carry them, I see them featured in DIY magazine pretty often.
My dad is building me one that will attach to the side of my house (will not have legs as the ground is uneven there). I will post pics once it is installed!
