BR: 1st birthday themes/ideas?
I know you momma's have already started thinking about (or planning) your LO's 1st birthday parties ... after all, you all had such gorgeous weddings
Thought it wold be nice to see what everyone is "thinking about" regarding themes/ideas for your LO's first birthday bash!
Re: BR: 1st birthday themes/ideas?
Some cute ideas I've heard of so far:
My aunty attended a 1st birthday party for a little girl where the theme was cupcakes... she said it was extravagant. The centerpieces were sprinkles packs from William Sonoma, they had a cupcake tower for the cake and a make/design your own cupcake station for kids (&adults)
My cousin had a big 1st birthday bash (because he had a heart problem when he was born and almost passed away-- so it was a true celebration when he turned one) and the theme was Jungle Book. His parents even rented a pony, airbrush tattoo artist and balloon man. Their second child's theme was under the sea.
I've seen a lot of "LO's name in ONE-derland" on the bump. Very cute

It's still a ways off for us but I am thinking of taking her back to CA for her bday. We hope to do Christmas with J's family here this year and since Libby's bday is exactly one month later I am thinking we should fly back to CA for a visit and celebrate her bday there since we don't know very many people here anway. Now, if by some miracle, I make some friends here in town (besides our own Hawaiian Honey...who I'd most definitely have a kiddie party with!) then I feel like we should take Libby back to CA where the majority of our family lives and most of our closest friends live.
As for a theme...I have no idea! If we have it here, it will be cold and maybe even snowy/icy whereas in CA it should be nicer weather and we might even be able to grill or something. Right now one of her nicknames is "Lizzy B the Busy Bee" (emphasis on the ZZZZ's!) so maybe a bumble bee or bug/garden/flower theme? Who knows? I just hope to have a first bday that is a true celebration and not just me, my mom and J helping her blow out a candle...how sad!

Very cute
I see a LOT of ladybug parties. We call Brooke "Brooke bug" and used to call her "buggy" so we were initially doing a ladybug party, but now not so much.
I think a bee/garden theme is so cute. I hope you make friends too! It must be so hard and intimidating to put yourself out there.

hi hi hi lori
my gf just had a minnie mouse themed bday. easy decorations. she put up a red disposable tablecloth on the wall and taped white circles. then it was red tablecloths and napkins all over the place.
there's also carnival themes. my sister had a bouncing house and then rented a popcorn maker and a snow cone maker....
i like bday parties that play with the holidays that are around it
hawaii 10.2008 plan ;P married bio ???
Hi Lori,
Brooke's birthday is coming up soon huh!!! You excited? We just went to 4 1st birthday parties so I have a few ideas. the first one was around girls day so her theme was cherry blossoms and kokeshi dolls. It was super cute and her mom made each of the girls dolls out of the big clothes pins. I have pics if you want to see.
Second was a ladybug theme (it was around valentine's day) lots of red and black with accents of pink. She used the babyt food jars and made them into ladybugs. Then there was the candylan theme.. All the kids loved that one. They had a candy buffet and a card box made out of candy. Last one was a fairy theme. Super cute, glitter everywhere.
I've heard of the carnival theme. When you sign in you get scripts (or tickets) and use them to play games. One that we went to had little bazaar games like fish pond and ring toss. It was super cute.
Jaylee's will be a gardent theme. Lots of flowers, and bugs everywhere. We are making our own centerpieces out of flower shaped sugar cookies and pots. We also have tons of butterflys, bees, dragonflys to hang up. Her cake will be garden theme with all the insects in it.
AND if you're thinking of a bug theme I've heard of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" themed parties., I love the book and we even thought about doing it. You could make a cake in a shape of a caterpillar, and have dirt cups for dessert. hope it goes well
LOL...Here is the link for the vintage surf theme. After I started to think about it, I don't think we are going to do it now. I feel like we live in HI it should be a different theme...so I was thinking about "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" since they have some cute ideas....but I am lost and overwhelemed.
Anyone want to give me an idea for boys parties? I want something simple but nice. I know we are renting a room at The Willows and will probably have 100 people or so. Ekk..this is going to be a 2nd wedding!!
