Once bulbs have bloomed.....

what do I do with the remaining parts? My crocus and a couple of other bulbs have bloomed. The flowers have blown away. Do I pull what is leftover or just cut it down?

Re: Once bulbs have bloomed.....

  • Don't cut back or pull anything until the leaves are brown. The bulbs get their nutrients from the leaves.

  • PP is correct about the bulbs getting their nutrients from the leaves.  What I do is make weekly rounds and pull out any 100% brown leaves.  They will come straight out with little to know resistance.  If you have to pull hard, they aren't ready to come out.
