Stolen from thebump - processed foods to avoid

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/9-ingredients-to-avoid-in-processed-foods-1268429/

The article lists ingredients you should avoid in processed foods.

It's so crazy to have to avoid so much, or that this stuff is in foods in the first place.

Re: Stolen from thebump - processed foods to avoid

  • You should take nutritional advice from a registered dietician not from an aerobics instructor who writes a blog.  If she is going to make those kinds of claims, she should provide studies that support them.

Avoid processed foods as much as possible but moderation is the key.

  • So now I am curious....yes she is an aerobics instructor but she is also an author of a real book that you can buy on Amazon (not just her own blog). I have more respect for her now that I know she is more than an AFAA instructor (I have the same certification among others). She had to work very closely with RD's in order to get her info to publish that book.

Writing a book and having it sold on Amazon =/= qualified expert (see Kevin Trudeau).  Any ahole can write a book and have it published, they don't necessarily check the facts; if she were a published scientist (in a peer reviewed scientific journal) then she would have better credentials.

Working with RDs =/= qualified expert.

  • I try to avoid all of these things anyways? It's not really anything new, IMO.

    Agreed, same here.
  • For the record I never called her an expert, I just simply said that I had more respect for her. If you don't eat the stuff anyway you apparently are in agreement with her FYI.
