Fast Growing Evergreen Needed

Hi All,

This is my first time to the gardening board, and I have a question.  I was hoping you'd be able to recommend a evergreen shrub to plant along a fence, and also on the side of my deck for privacy.  I looked at the Leyland Cyprus, but I believe it will get far too big for our area.  The area beside our deck is about 18 feet long, and the bed is about 2.5 feet wide.  I would ideally like something that is fast growing, and has a low need for pruning.

If it helps, I am in North Carolina.  Thanks so much!

Re: Fast Growing Evergreen Needed

  • Look into Thuja Emergald Green.  They get 8-12 feet tall, three feet wide.

    They're OK to zone 7.

I have a picture in my bio of two I planted a few years ago againt my garage.  They are about 8 feet tall now.

  • Thanks so much for your help!  It looks like it will work in our zone (we're zone 7), so I'll have to keep my eye out for them.
