interior painting cost?

we are in the process of buying, and want to have the interior of our condo painted, because we're not terribly handy, and our place has some veeeery high ceilings. 

we're wondering what to expect as to how much this will cost.  it's a 1300 square foot brooklyn duplex, two bedrooms, two baths, living/dining room, and office.

i'm cross-posting on decorating & renovating too, but would love any input you all have.  anyone want to venture a guess at cost?

I would estimate about $200/room if you are providing your own paint and $250- $300 if the painter provides the paint. At least that's the cost in my area (Queens).

lawby, we called phil, your painter.  he can't give us an estimate without coming to look at the place, which isn't possible just yet b/c we haven't closed.  DH is trying to get the realtor to let us in during an evening this week so phil can come out and see it, and give us an estimate.

lord help us, his estimates will be lower than others we've received, b/c right now, it's looking like we may be FORCED to DIY it, which will be horrifying.

I think that's a *really* good price.  We definitely paid more than that, but our walls were complicated... very old, with picture molding in nearly every room we had painted.  So, there was a lot of prep work that went into it and then two colors (the wall color and the trim color) per room (aside from the bathrooms).  I want to say it was about $4K (inclusive of the paint) for two hallways, a foyer, a large dining room, a large living room, a bedroom, and two small bathrooms.  So, it really depends on the condition of your walls and how much time they need to spend on them.

ours is fairly un-complicated.  it's brand new construction, so the walls are as close to flawless as they can be.  they are even pre-primed.  the only thing that will bring our cost up is that the ceiling in our stairway gets to 19 feet in spots.  (the rooms themselves are all about 8-9 feet high, though.)
