I went to one a couple months ago and loved it! Now I'm going to host one at my house in May and I'm super excited. I wonder who thought of it and if this is going on in other areas of the country. I'm in KY. It bascially is where you take jewelry, purses, and things like hats or belts that you no longer use/wear, get together and swap them. Its set up like a draft, everyone draws a number and each person picks out something they want from other people's station, and it continues in the rotation until all items are gone or people no longer see anything they want. I thought it was an awesome way to shop for free and enjoy an afternoon with friends/family. Everyone brings a dish too so there are snacks.
So, is anyone else participating in this kind of party?
Re: Accessory Swap Party....ever been?
I have heard of the clothing swap party but not the accessory swap party. I do however like the idea. I have sooooo many accessories! Some people love shoes I love accessories!!!!!
Please once you have your party can you share how it turned out and pics?
Thanks
I would say if the group size was under 10 people and close knit, meaning everyone knew each other pretty well, the all at once shopping would work. If the group is larger and/or the people don't all know each other, the draft style is better. The one I went to had about 8 people but we didn't all know each other and the draft style seemed fair to me. Everyone looks around a bit before it starts so they can pick out their favorites, then its the luck of the draw.
I will post pics and a review after its over. I invited several people at work, and then some friends on FB, very informal though, meeting invite at work, and Event invite on FB. I think I'll probably end up with about 15 people give or take. Also keep in mind the timeframe people are available. the Draft style can take longer than the 'all shop' so if you have a lot of people, you may not have 4+ hours to take turns picking.
