Looking for a Condo/House beach rental....pls suggest
We've only lived here 9 months and have yet to explore the beaches on the coast (except Hilton Head). We want to take a beach trip in early Sept when the rates are a little cheaper and would need a 3br place. I'd like to find one either on the beach or across from the beach. We will have a 3 year old and a almost 4 month old then so I want the option to go inside quickly if we needed to....(i.e. no driving to beach!).
I am open to anything except Hilton Head. We lived in GA for our entire lives so not interested in Savannah since we've been there/done that. Would like to stay in SC just for traveling time---don't want to spend 6-8 hours on the road!

Re: Looking for a Condo/House beach rental....pls suggest
I agree with the PP who suggested www.vrbo.com. It's a great website. There are tons of deals in the Georgetown/Pawleys Island area. Love Pawleys. Also, Edisto is great for family fun...so relaxing. I'm from outside of Charleston and love all these places. Kiawah Island/Seabrook Island/Isle of Palms can get a bit pricey.
I also agree that vrbo is great!! You should look into Pawleys and Litchfield Beach.. We rented a Beautiful house in Litchfield for our family and it was so amazing and really reasonable.
The only beef I have with vrbo, is that I can't do an "advanced" search. I run into this problem a lot----I don't particularly care where we go as long as it is beachy and within the budget and room requirements.
They make choose your location first then sort through where as I could almost care less what part of the coast!
You might want to consider Seabrook Island, located next door to Kiawah.
Seabrook is a true gated community. If you're not a property owner or rental guest of a property owner, you're not getting through the gate. The speed limit is 25 mph and is closely monitored. This makes for great (safer) bike rides.
There are no hotels or high rises on Seabrook. You will need to rent from one of the rental companies (Coastal Getaways of SC, ResortQuest, Seabrook Exclusives, Beachwalker) or directly from an owner.
Some neighborhoods have pools; some are walking distance from the beach. Feel free to visit my blog: http://south-carolina-lowcountry.blogspot.com/ or my website: http://www.OurGreatEscapeVilla.com for more info on Seabrook.
Seabrook truly is a relaxing place!
If you decide you want to come to Charleston- Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, or Folly Beach I can help you find a rental. Just send me an email at mala@carolinaone.com (i'm a real estate agent and i can point you to a propery management company that only deals with vaca rentals)
I would pick Isle of Palms for sure:)
