Nashville Neighborhood Recomendations

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking at the possibility of moving to Nashville next summer from Minnesota.  I'm looking at renting for a year or two and then hopefully buying a home.  Can you please tell me which neighborhoods in or around Nashville that would be nice to live in and also affordable?

Re: Nashville Neighborhood Recomendations

  • Bellevue is nice. ?I live in Donelson and love it, though others dont really feel the same way about it. ?Hermitage is also great. ?If you want to live a little farther out, Mt. Juliet is the new up and comming area. ?

I would avoid Antioch and parts of East Nashville.?

  • what type of area are you looking for?

I'd guess that 90% of the newbies to town live in an apartment in or near Antioch for awhile (a TON of apartments there) and then realize they want to live elsewhere!

It really depends on what you want (and what you want to spend) though b/c the city and surrounding areas are very diverse.

  • We lived in Bellevue for 3 years and really liked the area.  We lived at Legacy Hill apartment which is really considered West Meade (between Bellevue and Belle Meade off Hwy 70S) and it was the best.  One huge selling point for me was the kitchen.  It was nice and realitively spacious.  They just remodeled all the apartments 3 years ago (or something like that) and I loved the mangagement staff.  If you do decide to live in Bellevue I would NOT recommend The Crossings.  We lived there as well and it was terrible.  Terrible management (I mean the bug exterminator came into our apartment and STOLE my cell phone and then claimed he didn't do it but it magically disappeared and they did nothing about it).  Good luck!  We loved Nashville and miss it terribly.
  • It really depends on what you are looking for. If you like urban neighborhoods and being close to everything, I would highly recommend the historic part of East Nashville. I've been over here for almost 5 years and will miss it dearly when we move in October!! We can walk down the street to great restaurants, bars and shopping, and the neighborhood vibe is just the best.

Some pricier, but also fun and young neighborhoods, are Hillsboro Village, 12South and Sylvan Park. I hate driving, so I'm one to stay close to town as much as possible! If you don't mind being a bit farther out, I would agree that Bellevue has some nice spots as well.

  • Ditto pp. Tell us what you're looking for and we can do a better job of helping you!
  • Hi Ladies,

Thank you for your input.  I guess, I;m looking for a nice neighborhood that is family oriented where I can rent a nice one bedroom apartment for no more than $700 a month.  Is this a possibility?  I'm also looking for a good, family oriented neighborhood to purchase a home in possibly 1.5 to 2 years down the road; which would you recommen?  Also, you are the TN experts here; if I were looking for a job in Health Administration in Nashville, where would a good place be to apply for a position?  I'm sorry I sound so helpless, but any advice is appreciated.

  • I used to live in hermitage and loved it...very safe and family friendly and easy access to a lot of stores, etc.  If you are interested in hospital admin...check out HCA they are based in Nashville and a great company to work for (my dad's worked for them for like 20 yrs.)
  • We live in Mt. Juliet - just about as family oriented as it gets. :) There are some new luxury apartments that opened up in "Providence" a master planned comm. in Mt. Juliet. Other than that I'm not sure there are too many other apartment complexes out this way.
  • Hi Amber,

Would you by chance know the name of the new apartment complex that has gone up in Mt. Juliet?  Thanks again, for your help.

  • sorry for the late reply! They are called "Aventura". Here is the link:

  • Thanks Amber, I appreciate your help.  I will be visiting Nashville December 11-17.  I'm so excited, I hear nothing but good things about Nashville.
