I can't take it anymore. We have fleas in the house and can't get rid of them. My husband got some "green" flea spray with peppermint and some other stuff but it isn't working. He just keeps spraying more but I keep seeing fleas. Of course I've washed all the sheets and vaccumed and the animals have all had the stuff on the back of their neck. Is their something strong that won't be unsafe for living things?

Re: Fleas?
i do know that if your yard/grass/dirt is dry, that's more prone to having fleas stick around. keep your yard wet. are you using that advantage stuff on your pets? bleaching everything?
I've only ever lurked but just went through this same thing and could not get rid of the fleas to save my life! Luckily, I was able to find a groomer that used an all natural flea dip, which helped a lot, and we also started her on the comfortis pill. Its worked really well since it was mostly the dog spreading them around and feeding them. It took some searching to find the groomer but they ended up throwing the flea dip in for free since apparently the flea season is pretty bad this year (in fl) and it only ended up costing $10!
The drop stuff for the back of her neck never really worked for us since as soon as I put it on her she would rub or try to lick it off. Also make sure that when you wash the sheets and whatever bedding your pets use that you're using the hottest water setting. I also tried the "natural" sprays and nothing really helped until the dog was treated more effectively.
I hope this helps some, we were all misserable while this was going on.
Comfortis. It's not "Green" as it's an oral pill for fleas. But after a horrible flea issue, we gave it to our dog and it's been am.a.zing.
In the meantime, put Borax all over your carpets, let it sit for a few hours, vaccuum. Do it again the next day...

I've posted a few times about natural flea eradication. If you go through the earlier pages of the green board you should see some. Sorry, I don't have time to search right now.
Its definitely more work, but I'm not willing to use insecticides in my pets for convenience.
The commercial products like Advantage work really well and don't harm mammals. It's not like the old powder flea collars that were toxic to pretty much everything.
I know that it's hard to do that if you're trying to stay away from commercial pharmaceuticals, but this stuff is pretty safe and it'll relieve their suffering. Fleas are a huge pain, especially when they're sucking your blood. :P
Sadly, the flea sprays with peppermint and orange and eucalyptus don't kill fleas -- they just repel them. Spray it on the furniture and they'll jump on the carpet. Spray it on the pet bed and they'll jump on your bed. You pretty much have to use something that kills them or kills their eggs or stops them from breeding without harming anyone else.
