Lavender... what to do with it?
I am growing lavender. What can I do with it?
I want to make some rice neck/eye packs. Do I dry it out to put it in there?
Is there a way to get the oil from it?
Re: Lavender... what to do with it?
I don't know much about collecting the oil, but for eye packs and things you'll want to dry it.
Drying is super easy. All you need to do is cut off a group of sprigs and bundle them together with some string. Hang them upside down in a dark room like a closet until they are dry. The cool thing is they will keep the moths at bay, too! Once its dry you can cut off the flowers and scrap off the leaves and use that in the packs.
I love, love, love lavender! We grew english and french at our old house and dried a heap of it every fall.
Dired in teas, (in an early grey, yum!!)
Sachets for your underwear drawer. (Said to keep away moths?)
I think its hard to get the oil out and your need several pounds to get a few drops or I learned something like that while in Croatia.

Lots of ideas there. There isn't an easy way to make essential oils at home.
