I just looked at your bio and saw all the pictures of your house. GREAT job decorating it! I'm struggling with my house right now because we know we're moving in a few years so I don't know if I want to put the effort into decorating it!
Your house has inspired me though!
Re: ~Rock~
Aww, thank you so much! I'm flattered.
The pics are a little old and I feel like there's a lot of clutter in some of them, but that's real living, right? I've cleaned up the red room a bit since then and hung some curtains--though those curtains have been waiting to be hemmed for months. I'm so bad.
Decorating has been both fun and a chore. We've been in the house for 3.5 years and I'm still not done with basic things like finding curtains for our master BR (notice there are no pics of that room
). Slowly but surely is apparently my mantra.
I say go ahead and decorate. At the very least maybe it'll make the place show better when you're ready to sell. And for more inspiration, hang out on the D&R board--talk about some impressive decorating, those ladies are amazing.
We've been in our house about the same time and it's funny, I just bought curtains for the dining room and it's inspired me to do more!
My problem is I have no idea where to go. I always end up at Home Goods but I'm looking for some other options! Are there any Pier One Imports in MA? I've never seen one but used to love that store!
Yep, there are Pier One's around here. The closest one I've seen is in Brookline, and I think there may be one in Porter Square but I'd check the website to be sure.
I've gotten my decor from all over the place. HomeGoods is definitely a favorite, but for example I've gotten curtains from BB&B, JCPenney, custom, and semi-custom. My absolute favorite place for curtains is this place: http://www.curtaincloset.com/. It's a bit of a drive but they've got such a nice selection and their quality is amazing. They're what I'd call semi-custom, so they're more than JCP but much less than custom and you get so many fabric choices; or if you just want their off-the-shelf style and opt not to customize with a different fabric then their price are pretty darn cheap for what you get. The web site has a 10% coupon too. I go there so much they recognize me now
Other decor pieces I've picked up from various furniture stores, Target, random mall stores, etc. etc. Let me know if you want any other specific suggestions!
