Blogs: Our Growing Family - CT Working Moms

1. Friday was my last day of work and I feel like such a weight has been lifted! I feel so much better about all that we want to accomplish before Henry comes now that I will have more time and energy to do it all!
2. Yesterday I got the curtains hemmed, ironed and hung in the nursery.
3. I'm about halfway through Henry's laundry - clothes and cloth diaper prep.
4. I barely have any shirts left that cover my belly! Another advantage of being home - I can wear C's tshirts, which is exactly what I'm doing today.
5. I think being pregnant has officially made my feet grow. Even when they aren't really swollen, I can't get my old sneakers on...unlaced... I am trying not to think about the gorgeous shoes I own that I will never be able to wear again!
6. I still haven't had my car repaired from when I got backed into last month. I'm totally in denial. We did get a check from the insurance co, and I found a place I can go to that's nearby, I just dread dealing with it. But this week, mark my words, I will at least go to the auto body place to see if they have time to fix it this week. I'm hoping to avoid needing a rental, even though insurance would cover it.
7. I would love for C and I to finally get to Newport for the afternoon this weekend. But then I think of all the other things we could accomplish... We'll see. I know I can get a lot done here by Friday, but some things I need C's help with. So we'll see what kind of place we're in come Friday night. It could be our last chance to do something like that just the two of us!
8. I may go to the dollar store today. There is one right near our house now.
9. I can't believe how soon my due date is. I'm so excited to meet our baby! At the same time, I really, really want him to stay put a little longer... I still have to meet with his potential pediatrician and I have not packed a single thing to bring to the birth center.
10. I think I'll make margarita chicken for dinner tonight. Will need to run to the store for limes.

1) this really worries me.I already wear a 9/9.5 and what if they never deflate?
2) free lunch today was hoagies. yuck.
3) I owe a couple of peopel checks and keep forgetting to write them. And don't have my checkbook today. I suck.
4) I need to call our nat'l org. about a june event and also keep forgetting.
5) I'm worried C will have cysts since she's done clomid for 3 mo now.
6) What should I have for lunch?
7) if our house doesn't sell this year, I have no idea what we're going to do if C gets pregnant soon.
8) I still need a new job
9) I passed my qualifying exam!
10) Is a brownie and soup a good lunch?
1. I started with a new physical therapist today. I like her *much* more than my old one and I'm feeling better about maybe making an actual recovery.
2. Jen's mom was here this weekend. It went OK, but it's hard to tell if she is having fun. I worry (very much) about what it will be like if she moves in with us (which is her current retirement plan).
3. Jen drives all the time b/c before we got this car I only owned a car for about 6 months, when I was 18. So I can drive, but I'm pretty nervous and I just let her do it since she doesn't mind. I decided I need to work on this so last night I drove way up to a friends house, on the Beltway, during rush hour. I am super brave.
4. We've had a lot of people popping into town the last few weeks. I'm hoping we get some time to relax this weekend.
5. I love that more and more salad places are popping up. DC peeps, check out Sweetgreens.
6. Looking forward to having hummus and grilled pita w/ veggies for dinner tonight. Yum.
7. I really need to get my teeth cleaned and get a dental checkup, but I keep putting it off b/c I have so many other doctor's appointments going on that adding one more seems nuts.
8. I have -12 vacation hours right now. Crap.
9. One of my FB friends posted a rant this morning about how she sees people posting "random useless" stuff on FB all the time, but only two of her FB friends had reposted a charity link she was trying to get people to share. Guilt trips are an anti-motivator for me, no matter how good the cause.
10. And scene.
1. I am biting the bullet and actually "doing" the girls room. They will be here forever, right?
2. I got some tests results back and they are not good. I am kind of scared and waiting for the doctor to call.
3. We went to the zoo this weekend. I am in love with giraffes. Magical!
4. LMC has us very worried. She is showing signs of depression, anxiety and PTSD.
5. Being near water soothes me instantly. Maybe we need a beach house :-)
6. Watching the girls play together is such a gift, they love each other so much.
7. The girls just got the most adorable spring/summer outfits and sandals. I cannot wait to see them on!
8. I find myself wanting to be a whole lot crunchier in my old age, LOL! If S were on board I could go a little crazy.
9. We have a ton of stuff to get rid of. I may have to donate it all, garage sales don't work in an apartment :-)
10. I am fighting an urge to take everything out of every drawer, closet, cupboard and start over. Hmm...glances at the hall closet...gotta go!
1. Two days ago I was set to marry my best freind until she made out with my cousin and moved to her moms.
2.I am struggling to maintain the life we built for ourselves with just me feeding a dog, a cat, fish and baby chickens.
3. It's my day off and I don't want to even leave bed.
4. One of her fish died and I feel bad.
5. I am thinking about how to go about cancelling the wedding but can't bear the embarressment of failing.
6. I am avoiding my mother because I dont want her to think C is bad incase I take her back.
7. I know I should eat but I can't stop feeling sick, she made muffins the day before she left but no I can't bear to eat them.
8. I really should get up and clean the house.
9. Everything is green and beautiful and springlike outside my window, perhaps singalling a fresh start.
10. The kitten has snuck into the bedroom I can hear her bell as she plays under the bed. I'm going to miss her when C finds a place and takes her away.
1. I am hoping that by the time I finish my 10 things Ella will be asleep and napping. She is fighting it right now.
2. We moved E into her room on Sat night and while the first night sucked and we were up about 6 times. The 2nd and 3rd nights rocked. She slept from about 7:30-7:30 and we did not have to go in at all!! Sunday night she didn't even cry at all. Last night she cried out a few times but put herself back to sleep. Oh to sleep through the night again is soooooo nice!
3. We took a walk today (I am on vacation this week) to the coffee shop that S takes E to almost everyday. She was such a cutie making cute faces and giving smiles out like she was the mayor of the place. We stopped by the swings on the way home. It was awesome and I can not wait until summer vacation when we can do it every day!
4. E is asleep I think...well at least it is quiet in there which is a good sign.
5. Our march of dimes walk is in a few weeks and I need to finish and order our shirts. We have raised almost $600 so far I am looking forward to the walk. I am so proud of how far E has come in these 9 months it will feel good to give back.
6. We went back to the nicu to visit on Sunday. It was great to see our favorite nurses. There was a family in the waiting area who we spoke to briefly. It was the grandparents and aunts of a set of 32 week twins who had been born the day before. It was their first time visiting. They were so surprised that E was a preemie back for a visit and that she was only 2lb 5 oz. There babies were 1 and 2 lbs bigger than E. You could tell that they were so relieved seeing how healthy she looks now. It gave them some hope in a scary time and I was glad to be able to do that.
7. I need to call and see if I can volunteer at the nicu.
8. My vacation week is so filled with things to do. I hope I feel rested at the end of it.
9. I am a little sad that we are not going anywhere for the vacation the last 2 April vacations we went on our honeymoon and then our babymoon. I don't mind so much since we have E but a tropical local would be fun.
10. E is asleep yeah!
I was a 9 1/2 before Annie and now I can't fit into most 10's. I need the non exsistent 10 1/2. I now hate shoe shopping.
2. Annie and I went to a local board GTG at the zoo today. It was so nice out I loved it.
3. Annie wanted to steal the shoes off of all the other girl babies in strollers at the zoo. This from a girl who hates her own shoes. I may have to set aside a shoe budget for her starting now.
4. At the zoo Annie ate all her sandwich, a cheese stick and a bunch of veggie sticks - then took my sandwich out of my hand and ate the end of it including the cucumbers black olives and lettuce. I think being outside all day made my baby hungry.
5. I love watching Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader cause it makes me feel superior . It also tends to make me want to home school when some teacher are on and are dumber than bricks.
6. I should be sleeping right now but I am all hyper for some reason. I am going to be on my face at work tonight.
7. I got a picture of Annie from a friend of my SIL's. She has the most serious expression on her face. She was very crabby and seconds from a melt down when it was taken. Strangely the more I look at it the more I love it. It is such a different look for her. She has a look in her eyes like she holds the secrets of the universe.
8. I have to powerwash and stain the deck this spring. I have no gumption to get up and even start it.
9. I almost stepped on a snake in my front yard the other day. Carol will now be mowing the grass.
10. I am off to bed now. See you all tomorrow!

A day late...
1. We survived our 10 day trip. The kids were rockstars!
2. I have a ton of work to do now. Being out for 10 days creates a lot to catch up on!
3. My feet grew (and never returned to their original size) after the kids. Went from 8.5 to 9/9.5.
4. Last night at the airport my underwire popped. Lovely. I am not one to go bra-less so I had to endure it till I got home. Ouch.
5. Video iPods on planes are godsends for kids (and parents.)
6. We went to the most amazing playground in Boca Raton. Wish we could go there daily. The kids had a great time and were worn out for nap time.
7. My kids clearly are NO where ready to give up their naps. YAY! Now I have jinxed myself, right?
8. We go to Dutch Wonderland in 2.5 weeks. Fun!
9. We hired a cleaning service to come clean the house bi-weekly. I had no intention of cleaning on the off weeks (aside from touching up counters, sink, messes, etc.) Well, DP didn't like that plan, so now they are coming weekly. YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
10. I have to go home tonight and unpack and put the luggage away so the cleaners can clean the floors!
Glad the trip went well!
Care to share the details of the cleaning service you hired. I need to hire one...desperately!
We are using Maple Maids. It was $90/ for bi-weekly and $70/ for weekly. They sent 2 people and are there 2-3 hours. We had a cleaning service when the babies were first born and it was awesome! Who has time to clean when you have 2 babies!??!!? How is it going? I need to respond to C's blog post - it DOES get easier. I could feel how tired she (both of you) are - and I can remember how hard those first few months are. Hang in there.
