Visiting from Cincinnati

(RP from baby board)

We're planning a weekend in Lexington since we've never been, and MIL lives nearby so she can watch DC for a night.

Any recommendations for things to do?  We will have DC (he's 1.5) during the day (so maybe a good park, childrens museum, puppet shows, etc), and date night (dinner, martini/wine bar, dinner shows?).  We're coming this weekend.

Thanks ladies.

Re: Visiting from Cincinnati

  • this board is really slow so you may not get the responses you're hoping for.  i live in Louisville, but went to school in Lexington.  all the activities you mentioned can be done downtown.  google downtown lexington and you'll find plenty.  if it's nice, i'd sit outside at Cheapside for dinner/drinks.
  • I just might catch you for the weekend! As PP already said, this board is slow...It's my first time on in months.  The local children's museum is the Explorium, downtown.  It's fun; your LO would probably really enjoy the water table near the entrance.  The best park to take him to would probably be Jacobson.  It's a little ways away from town, but it has a lake with paddle boats and a great playground.   As far as night life goes, just wander downtown.  Cheapside has a nice patio and all of the bars are within a few blocks of each other.  You could also look up the Lexington Opera House and see if if any plays are going on.  Again, hopefully I've caught you, but enjoy your visit!
