GL confession...

I bought self-tanning lotion yesterday...so freaking packed with crap and chemicals. But I have a wedding next weekend, am ghostly white, and I refuse to do tanning beds/lay out in the sun. It's only a week of lathering on the crappy lotion, but I feel SO freaking guilty.

I hang my head in GL shame.

Why do you have to be tan for a wedding?

You're right...I totally don't. I just hate how white my legs look in my black and white dress. It's totally vain...no doubt about that.

  • I bought Campbell's cream of mushroom soup for a recipe.  That's the most processed food I've bought in a long time, and probably the first in a year or more with HFCS.  This casserole better be freakin' awesome...

Did the recipe specify Campbell's? You can make your own cream-of-mush soup base with some water, bouillon (I use Trader Joe's stock concentrates), cornstarch (you can get non-GMO) and mushrooms. That's what we use for green bean casserole b/c of MSG and wheat sensitivities in my family.

OK I'll stop being the Confession Patrol now. :z

  • I can't get the hang of Dr. B's for hand soap because it doesn't feel slippery or like it's actually cleaning.  I think I'm the odd one out on this.  I bought some Method handsoap to refill our dispensers until I can find a better solution.  It still has SLS, but it least there isn't Triclosan.
  • I have 2 sweet rain barrels.

I don't have a yard/grass (great for me, minimal maintenance) and don't like dirt so I won't be gardening. What exactly am I going to use the water for? Not sure. All I know for now is that I'm sparing out sewer system a small amount of water each time it rains.

  • I sent an email to Publix corporate complaining about how their "Greenwise" meat selection keeps getting smaller and smaller and how they're out of the grassfed ground beef every other time I go in. They forwarded the email to the manager who called me and acted so nice and so sad....like I'd hurt his feelings :( I'm in there like every other day and it was like he was so hurt that I didn't live up to their expectations. It made me feel bad.

  • Some sun is actually good for you, you know? A lot of adults have vitamin D deficiencies because they don't get enough sun.

While there is definitely a point where you reach "too much", laying out in the sun to get some color is good for your body and your emotional well being Big Smile

  • We pretty much all have vit. D deficiencies here in Seattle! But self-tanner doesn't help with that. They should put vit D in it! That stuff smells sooo bad though!

    I know...the kind I got doesn't smell horrible though.

Actually, my doctor told me about the Vitamin D thing and said I should be on Vitamin D supplements since A. I'm fair skinned and wear sunscreen all the time so my body doesn't absorb it and B. live in the PNW...so not a ton of sun. Living in CA for 28 year though? too much sun!

waving back to you SDgirl. I've been posting sporadically these days- busy schedule and the typing requires too much effort. Haha.
