ponytail palm trimming

I have a ponytail palm plant, and the spikes are getting reaaly long. Only about half of each spike is green. Am I supposed to trim off the dead or wait until the whole spike is dead and then take it off? Will the spikes continue to grow?

Starting her off right, lol!

Re: ponytail palm trimming

  • I trim the dead brown parts off of mine about every other month or so just to clean it up and keep it tidy looking.  Mine keeps sprouting new fronds all the time so it never looks too "bald."

I have been doing this for the last 5 years and it still is alive so I guess it isn't hurting it at all.
