Stupid Epi... (Warning... Vent about Epidural inside)

Ok, i know i am a rare case in this matter, but I still need to vent for a minute.  With my first three children... I had no meds.  I toughed it out and did a pretty good job at it.  Sure, it hurt like a son of a gun, but all in all, as soon as they were out, the pain was over.

Well this time around, i had an Epi.  I wanted to see how different things were (plus, i think the pain was ALOT worse then i remember from my first three boys).  Well, i am regretting my decision, ha-ha!  I know i posted about this in my birth story, but i just want to say my headache is back (has been since yesterday) and now i need to be on more meds to make it better.  Dr. W suggested Demerol.  Ugh...   nothing like feeling like i am not pulling my weight with the little one now.  Carl said he is fine, and he wants me to feel better and blah blah blah, but i still feel like i am throwing EVERYTHING at him. We are moving on Sunday and the house is still a mess and needs to be packed plus he is taking care of William.  I have not been able to leave the bed for any time longer then to go to the bathroom, and even that is a task at this point.  I was told by the hospital to keep up on the caffine, but between that and the demerol (which makes me sleepy) i am going to feel like a drug addict..  *sigh* I think i should have went with my gut!

Ok, vent over..

  • Awww!! I am SOOOO sorry you are feeling yucky!  Is there really nothing else they can do?  I have only a glimmer of an idea of what you are dealing with.  I had terrible headaches for the last 2 months of my PG due to my hypertension.....ugh...I don't even want to think about it!!  My thoughts are with you Jess!! I really hope you feel better soon!

  • I'm sorry that you are the rare exception & having those horrible headaches Jess.  But, even if you weren't having them you shouldn't be doing too much right now anyway, you just had a baby!!

And if this was your first labor w/ pitocin, I'm sure it was much worse.  I have always hard that it is & my labor was certainly a lot worse once the pitocin kicked in.

Don't beat yourself up, rest (like  you should be doing anyway), and feel better soon!  You can't take care of William if you don't take care of yourself.

  • I'm sorry you are still having such an awful headache!  Whatever is forcing you to rest though is probably a good thing.  Otherwise, you'd probably be doing way too much right now.
  • omg jess, im sorry to hear about your suck ass exoerience with the epi. i agree pitocin makes it worse because my labor with vinny was definately worse than with tony, but i still want to get my epi if i make it in time with this baby......  lol

but im really sorry that you had a crap ass anestesiologist putting it in you and messing you up! i hope your headaches go away asap! and REST REST REST!!!!!
