See and do in Chicago end of May?

I've only been to Chicago for one day and that was over ten years ago. We went up in the Sears Tower, the pier and out on Michigan Lake. We're now going back for five days and what do you recommend seeing and doing? I'd like to mix it up with both some sightseeing and some fun just walking around. Any good affordable shopping areas? Any restaurants you like? I remember we went to a pizza place called Ginos back then, is that still around? How's the weather end of May? Grateful for any kind of advice:-)

Re: See and do in Chicago end of May?

  • Weather could be 40-80, lol, so just check the weather before you come so you know how to pack.

Gino's East?  Yes, of course it's still around.

The architectural boat tours are always nice or for something more you could do a brunch or dinner cruise on one of the ships at Navy Pier.

The signature room at the top of the hancock is nice and offers amazing views of the city.

Hotel Allegro is absolutely beauitful, but pricey, if you're looking for a cool place to stay.

    Resturants:

Sushi - Sushi Para II on Clark & Belden

Italian - Topo Gigio on Wells

Brunch - Ann Sather's on Belmont in Lakeview

Mexican - Nuevo Leon on Taylor street - stop at Mario's after (down the block) for some awesome italian ice

Pizza - D'Augstino's a few blocks away from Wrigley Field has awesome pizza!

You could check out a cubs game or just hang around in Wrigleyville; there's so much to do.

Shopping - check out neighborhoods like Lincoln Park & Wicker Park. Stop in for lunch somewhere (Smoke Daddy's on Division in Wicker Park has awesome burgers that are half price on thursdays) and walk around to all the different shops.

Check out a fest. May 21 & 22 is the chicago mayfest.  May 29 & 30 is the belmont-sheffield music festival

     Have fun!

  • Thanks for all the great suggestions-that's great!! I will definitely check out the mayfest:-)
