XP: Who would steal a dog?

My brother's FI lives in Chicago where she goes to school. Yesterday someone broke into her house and in addition to stealing their computers/electronics they took her puppy Tucker.

He is a year old, cocka-poo (cocker spaniel poodle) who is all black with a tiny "soul patch" of white on his chin. I just wanted to post this with a photo for the slim chance of anyone seeing him around. Thank you!Tucker

Re: XP: Who would steal a dog?

  • This breaks my heart.  Do you know what neighborhood she is in?  We have a cockapoo too and I can't imagine her being taken.  Pass along any info that you have and I will do what I can to spread the word in the dog community.

  • Thank you for passing any info along. Here is the info from her FB:

"On Monday, April 19th between 10AM and 3PM our apartment was broken into, electronics and jewelry were stolen but more importantly my dog, Tucker, was stolen.

Tucker is a year old, male, cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix). He is approximately 20 lbs. He is entirely black with a white soul patch on his chin. He is fluffy with curly hair. He is long legged and bodied for his size and is adorably awkward.

If anyone has any information about the dog or saw anything unusual on the 1800 block of West Patterson, Chicago, IL.

REWARD FOR THE SAFE RETURN OF TUCKER!!!

PLEASE PASS ON THE WORD TO ANYONE IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA! ONE THOUGHT IS THAT HE WAS STOLEN WITH THE INTENTION TO SELL. SO THE SUBURBS WOULD BE A LIKELY AREA THAT TUCKER COULD BE FOUND. "

Thank you for keeping your eyes peeled!

  • Thank you for sharing!!  I'll let our doggie daycare know as this is extremely close to home.  There's another dog missing nearby that's a designer dog, so I'm worried that there might be a pattern.

  • Oh no, I live somewhat close by and this is the third dog I've either seen a "missing" sign for or heard about just in the last week.

Or dog went missing from Wrigleyville last May but was randomly found in Beecher, IL (an hour south).  The person who found her saw my ad on Craigslist and called.  Please make sure your brother's FI uses all available networks--we never thought Craigslist would do anything but PAWS suggested it and it actually brought our dog home.  I'll never doubt it again.

  • That is so terrible. :( If the puppy was micro-chipped, she should provide the number to the local shelters and vets in case a similar looking dog comes in. Also, post a reward on Craigslist and all over the neighborhood--if the thieves see that they can get  money for giving the dog back, they might return him rather than sell him.

I feel so bad for her--I would be devastated if that happened to me.

  • this is despicable and an absolute nightmare. i really hope that your friend finds her sweet dog quickly and safely!
