S/O: What's wrong with Soy?
You girls were talking about how bad soy is in the "green" post. Enlighten me please.
Re: S/O: What's wrong with Soy?
Okay, soy is something I think everyone should research because there is a HUGE outcry against it- and a million reasons why it's bad.
But the general gist is that the vast majority of soy is genetically altered. The modified soy comes into contact with a lot of gross chemicals, including aluminum.
Soy also contains a plant form of estrogen, and we consume a ridiculous amount of it...kinda freaky to me.
It's not the actual product that bothers me the most (although it does) it's the fact that it is in almost anything packaged you buy at the store. It has so many different forms (think how we use corn) that manufacturers can make it do whatever they want. This is not a product we consume in moderation.
Ugh. It freaks me out the crud that is in our food that we don't even realize. Thanks for the info! I'm definitely going to research this more.
This exactly!!!
Glad to be of assistance
I just like for people to make themselves informed about what they eat!
also, along with the estrogen...
it can cause young boys to develop breast buds and has been linked to increasing women's risk of cancer
Ok quick question...I am lactose sensitive, so I try not to drink cow milk. Every morning I have a cup of soy milk in my protein shake. If I shouldn't be having soy, what can I use instead?
Thanks!
Try almond milk. I'm LI and that's what I use-plus it tastes SO good. Well, to me at least, I hate the taste of regular milk. It is also very low cal and vitamin rich.
Can you get almond milk at the grocery store or do you have to get it somewhere special like Sprouts or Trader Joes?
I buy mine at Sprouts, but I'm fairly certain you can get it anywhere.
The Almond Milk is right next to the soy milk at normal grocery stores.
Ive bought it at frys and safeway....
