I decided not to do a CSA this year, because last year was a lot of work and we got a lot of stuff we didn't eat, or at least didn't want to eat!
But, there were things like getting 1 eggplant the size of my fist, that was tough to use. So I'm curious, did your CSA take suggestions? What I mean is, for example, my aunt did a CSA and what they did was if they were low on a veggie, half the people would get 2 eggplants and the other people would get double of something else. And the CSA polled people on their favorites/least favorites to kind of determine how to distribute.
Just curious if that is the norm or less common of a practice. Do you just get what you are given, or is it somewhat driven by feedback
Re: Does your CSA take feedback?
the point of a CSA is usually that you get what you are given. You are getting a share of what grows. You can swap with other members but that's not really the job of the owners.
That said, our owners are great but they have been doing it for several years so I can't imagine any changes we would suggest that would get incorporated. But they are there at every pickup and super friendly.
I don't have a CSA, but for some of them i've looked into you do have a say in what goes into your basket for some memberships, but it costs more than a basic share... you could ask if that is an option at any of your local farms.
