Tell me all about lavender
I am seriously considering putting up a shrub.
TIA
Re: Tell me all about lavender
I have a few plants. They are pretty low maintenance, and they don't mind dry, clay soil.
They don't always flower though. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. When they do, they are a gorgeous shade of purple!
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010

Are you sure you planted a variety that would survive in your zone? I've purchased some that only last one season. Last year I planted a different variety and it survived being buried under about 4' of snow.
We just bought a house and the previous owner had a lavender plant in the raised square foot garden. I've left it in there and it's beginning to flower.
Why do you think she included it in the vegetable garden? Does it keep pests away? Attract bees for pollination?
mosquitos don't like, cats don't like (keeps them out of the garden), and bees LOVE lavender. and sage, too.
Bingo. She had a cat, so I bet she planted it to keep it out of her garden.
It's lovely, but it's getting big and taking up valuable gardening space. What can I do to trim it? Should I keep it there, or transplant it to another flower bed?
