Green ant killers

I have recently discovered a large amount of ants coming into our house.  We are going to caulk around windows and doors, as well as finish refinishing the wood floor in the dining room.  Then we can put down the quarter round molding which should also help.

I've read that vinegar works as does cinnamon.  The vinegar just seems to kill them, but I'm looking for something that will keep them out.  We have 3 cats (one of whom may have asthma) and I don't want to use chemicals to get rid of the ants.

Any suggestions?

Re: Green ant killers

  • Diatomaceous earth.

It's so safe for mammals, it's edible. Ants (and other bugs) hate it - it's sharp to them.

    Where can I buy it?

  • Garden stores will have it. It's also used in gardens to protect plants from slugs.
