Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday and as far as I'm concerned that's a great thing.  I'm struggling to stay positive about things right now, so it's time for a "thankful" post.

What are you thankful for right now?  What good things (big or small) are you experiencing in your life?

Re: Thankful Thursday

  • I am thankful for a few things today:

    1.  I am glad for Teacher Appreciation Week even though I am just school staff.  Today's treat: free lunch.  Our parent organization sponsors this event and all families bring in their favorite dishes.  YUM!

    2.  It's sad, but true, I am excited about the blizzard sale that's going on at Dairy Queen this week.  You can't pass up a "buy a blizzard, get one for a quarter" deal so my friend and I will be going this afternoon for a treat.

    3.  I am grateful for euchre club.  Last night a group of girls got together for this month's euchre night.  It was a night of fun and laughs.  Not a bad thing mid-week, at all.

  • I'm thankful that my dog survived last night.  Stick out tongue  I was downloading a program I needed for the company DH and I have and it is a HUGE file so even on a high speed DSL connection, it was going to be 3 hours.  At 2 hours and 30 minutes, she decided to come lay down by me and leaned up against the power button on the tower of my computer and shut it down.  I cried.  Literally.  I had to start the download over and then finish up my project so I was up until 3:30 this a.m.

Feel a little bit like I did in college when I'd stay up all night studying for something - but then again in college I never saw the bright side of 6:30 a.m. either.

  • I've had a hard time being positive lately too but it's not all bad.

    1. The girl who was so hateful at my wedding (my cousin) is officially out of my life now.  It's sad that it had to come to that but I think it's a good thing for me.

    2. I'm leaving work 2 hrs early today to help my mom with some stuff.

    3. We get to go out to lunch tomorrow for my supervisor's birthday.  It's not free but it's about 1.5 - 2 hours out of the office and we're going somewhere I've never been.

    4. I'm going to a Vera Bradley bingo thing with SIL this weekend and, though I'm not a huge VB fan, it would be cool to win something.

  • I'm thankful that classes end in two weeks and that I get to escape to Louisville this weekend.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • I'm thankful that I just discovered a Ramona and Beezus movie is coming out this summer! It stars Selena Gomez as Beezus, which I could do without, but I can look past that. I LOVED the Ramona series when I was a kid and I can't wait to see it on the big screen. (Yes, I'm a total geek. But emotions like these re-enforce that I really should be a children's librarian. At least to me!)

I'm thankful that I start my new job in 1.5 weeks.

I'm thankful that I found a chiropractor near my office that takes my insurance and will *hopefully* work on pregnant ladies because my hips are a MESS and my lower back is already giving me grief :(. I'll be calling her in 10 minutes when her office opens.

ETA: I called the chiro, she can see me at 12:30 today and I can't wait!

  • (I'm having a really bad day, so, I'm kinda hard pressed... but here we go... )

    I'm thankful for:

    1) Finding a great way to cook brown rice so it doesn't turn out chewy...

    2) Increasingly warmer weather.... (theoretically...)

    3) Aleve.

  • I'm thankful for:

    1. Hubby.  He had dinner all ready for me when I get home from yoga last night.  I suspect it was because he was hungry, but I was grateful all the same.

    2. I finished listing my Etsy inventory last night.  I'm still a little worried that nothing will sell, but I'm relieved to finally have the whole thing set up, after stressing about it for months.

  • I've been in a really foul mood lately, especially yesterday and it carried on over to today....so I'm thankful for:

    Dominos Pizza- They Deliver

Motrin- even though my head still hurts and my neck is really tight...still...

My mom- For listening to be b!tch and moan on the phone for an hour last night...

My husband:  For listening to be b!tch and moan, then hearing it all over again when talking to my mom...

Modern Family- For making me laugh my butt off last night, even though both episodes were a repeat.

Nice people- Natalie who helped me with my logo free of charge when she knew nothing about me, is super busy, and really didn't have to offer...still some nice people in the world.

  • I'm thankful for almost reaching 6 months of marriage.  Woo!

I'm thankful that today is a teaching day.

I'm thankful that I am already smiling and feeling awake and it's only 7am (that doesn't usually happen until close to 9 ~ha~).

Motrin- even though my head still hurts and my neck is really tight...still...

Does your insurance cover chiropractic care or give you a discount or anything? I was having really bad migraines for awhile and seeing a chiropractor regularly really helped. If you can swing doing it on conjunction with massage therapy...there is nothing better.

  • I'm thankful that it's a beautiful day out today.

I'm thankful that DH is taking my car to get inspected & an oil change for me today on his day off.

I'm thankful that the Bruins won in double OT last night.

I get really bad migraines.  I have meds but they knock me out.  This is a great idea, I will ask DH when I get home regarding our insurance.  I had really crappy insurance before we were married, so hopefully chiropractic care is the answer!  OOooohhh and massage therapy...sounds like heaven.  Thank you!

  • It makes me sad, but I've been thinking about this for a while and I can only come up with a few...

    - My health, which seems cliche, but I'm always thankful for it.  Both DH and I are very healthy, so knock-on-wood. :)

    - DH, of course.  For everything.  Ever.

    - My dog, who turned 5 years old on Tuesday!  He's the love of my life (don't tell DH) and I don't know what I'd do without him.

    - Vacation in less than a month!  We're going to Jamaica for SIL's wedding, so it's not a "true" vacation, but I'm still excited to go.  I keep having nightmares that the in-laws laugh at me in my bikini!

    - The St. Louis Cardinals! :)  But, get out of the west coast, these late-night games are killing me!  Haha!

  • I am trying to remain positive with all the things going on in my life right now...

    1. I am thankful that my husband and I weren't in our house when it caught on fire.

    2. I am thankful for a supportive husband during a time when I am an emotional mess and he is holding things together and just letting me be me.

    3. I am thankful for all of our friends/family/church who have brought food, things for the new house, money, furniture and helping us find a new place to live. Especially one of the contractors that works for my husband that told us to go to Lowe's and pick out a new washer and dryer and to go to the furniture store and pick out a living room suite and he would pay for it all. He is a great person and I hope God blesses him for all the generosity he has shown.

    4. I am thankful for my faith throught this all that God will lead us through and that things will be ok.

    5. Last of all thankful for some of your alls posts that make me laugh on days that I feel sad...

You had a fire?!  That's terrible, but you already know that first hand.  Do you need anything?  I'll be in KY this weekend--a few more hours won't hurt anything.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • Munki,

Yeah Mar 25 we lost everything in the house... including my lil dog which was the worst part... but we are on the road to recovery at this point. I think we are doing ok at this point we have the basics and we are just going to be roughing it for while. But I really appreciate it. Where are you going to be in KY?

I am so glad you and your hubby are okay!!!!  What happened???  I live in Southern IL and KY is a hop skip and jump away.  I have an extra dining room table set if you want it!  As well as a few chairs (bar and lounge).  Honestly Paducah is 3 hours from my house, it's not a problem!

  • Louisville, but you're only a few hours away! Really sorry about your dog. I know what it's like and know it will take a while to get over the loss, but eventually you'll only remember the good times and what a good life your puppy had :)
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • New thing to be thankful for: Alonda and her DH are ok!

I am so sorry that you have had to experience such tremendous loss. I'm so glad you have such supportive friends/family/and community.

  • I'm thankful for a day off. In addition, I'm thankful for options- I'm actually considering what I want to do today, instead of rushing around.

I'm thankful to be going to Vegas in a couple weeks, even though the surprise is ruined. I really need to get away!

I'm thankful for the cash my dad slipped me a couple months back- I'm thinking, new shoes for the trip?

    Have a great day, ladies!

I'll be in Madisonville over Memorial Day!

  • OMG, i'm also thankful that Alonda and her DH are ok. What an awful thing to have happen. But it's good you're on the road back.

I'm thankful that this trip has not ended in any fights (yet) which is what sometimes takes place when I am cooped up to long with my family.

I am thankful that the Mr. watched the hockey game for me last night and let me know that my team got pwned even though he hates both teams that were playing.

I am thankful that we have the freedom to travel that other people don't have.

I am also thankful that my clothes all still fit after eating junk food and take out all week!

  • Alonda - I am so sorry for the huge challenge you and your DH had/have to deal with.  I'm thankful you're both okay and that you have such a supportive community and faith.

Kristina - I had a back injury at the end of high school and it is very important for me to work on core strength and stretching (especially hamstrings) or I get migraines.  I agree with massage and chiropractic but it may be good to look into the stretching strengthening aspect as well because it's a possibility that is often forgotten.

  • there are a few things I am thankful for... my job! yesterday was my seven year anniversary!! I don't know where I would be if I never got my job. My kids they make life easier and more joyful whenever I have a bad day they always make it better, and my husband he's seen me at my worse yet he still loves me.

Thanks!  Now that I think about it I didn't start getting migraines until the end of my senior year of college.  I was really athletic in high school and college but then after college I entered the real world and did not have that "discipline" anymore as far as a regular work out schedule/diet/being yelled at by a coach to run etc.  So it def. makes sense that stretching may be apart of the problem as well.  Now I'm fat and stiff a lot of the time and not nearly as flexible as I used to be.  I'm getting old....  I do a quick stretch in the moring but could def. do it longer and more often....I will work on that and see if it helps!  Thanks!

  • Its been an overall sucky day. But I am thankful for:

The fact that the day is pretty much over.

I don't have to go back to interning until Tues. so I get a nice long break from it and the people there.

That this Saturday marks 6 months of marriage (yay) and that we actually have a little extra money to go out on a date.

Mostly that Alonda and her DH are ok and are slowly picking up the pieces

  • Thanks everyone for the thoughts & prayers and volunteering to help it really means alot. I know things will get better its just going to take time and lots of praying.
