Let's talk about TURNING 30!!!
I'm going to be turning 30 in January - some days it seems like no big deal, other days I'm terrified that I'll actually be 30 years old in 5 more months, which has always (in my mind) been the official age of an adult, ha!
So, lets do a poll for the big 3-0
1. When will you turn 30?
2. Honest feelings about being or approaching 30?
3. What was your 30th B-day like or what do you want to do for your 30th B-day?
4. Any soul searching or epiphanies reached due to this milestone?
5. Where did you picture you would be professional/personally by the age of 30?
6. For those of you who are already 30+, what advice would you give to those getting ready to turn 30?

Re: Let's talk about TURNING 30!!!
1. Turned 30 on June 22.
2. I was a little nervous about it, but it really came and went without much fanfare.
3. We went roller skating (I asked for and got roller skates for my 30th bday!), went to the Farmer's Market and DH surprised me by a mini surprise dinner party at a local restaurant.
4. Nope- just a little more "baby fever" now that I'm the big 3-0.
5. When I was 5, I wanted to be a Notre Dame cheerleader (yes, I thought that was an actual profession.) In grade school, I was convinced I would be a journalist. In college, I realized I wanted to get into government work. Now, I'm right where I want to be- working with local governments to improve communities around the state.
6. Take it with a grain of salt. It's easier said than done, but it's really just a number. Why is 30 such a milestone- why is it any different from 29 or 31? Try to view it more like personal achievements- maybe you
7. Have fun and get together with your friends. I didn't think I wanted to, but DH surprised me and it was nice.

2. Honest feelings about being or approaching 30? It was like any other birthday. Wasn't really thinking about it or the meaning of it.
3. What was your 30th B-day like or what do you want to do for your 30th B-day? Hubby took me to Sakura for dinner and was surprised by our best "couple" friends there. Then went to Cheescake Factory for dessert. I also got a new car the week of my birthday but it wasn't like a big deal or anything since I was due for a new one!
4. Any soul searching or epiphanies reached due to this milestone? Nope. Honestly, I really don't think much about my age. As the saying goes it aint nuthin but a number.
5. Where did you picture you would be professional/personally by the age of 30? It's funny but I'm one of those people that didn't think much or plan about my wedding or turning 30.
6. For those of you who are already 30+, what advice would you give to those getting ready to turn 30? Again, age ain't nuthin but a number. You are as young or old as you think you are. And trust me, if you think your 20's were your best years, you're in for a big surprise. The 30's is waaaay better (of course 40-sumthns will say the 40's is a lot better, and so on)
7. Final thoughts or comments about turning 30/celebrating? Just have fun and party like it's your last!

I was excited about it- my 20s were fun and a lot of hard work and heartache and so many things- and I think my 30s will be the time when I hit the stride of my career and enjoy being a mother and enjoying be part of the dirty thirties.
3. What was your 30th B-day like or what do you want to do for your 30th B-day?
A bunch of my friends came with me down to Bloomington (I went to IU) for a night out- a "last hoorah" so to speak- out to dinner at the Irish Lion and then drinking at Kilroy's sports and then on to "Frank's"(formerly known as Axis, formerly formerly known as Mars).
4. Any soul searching or epiphanies reached due to this milestone?
The only epiphany I had is that it wasn't any real big deal- 30 is a number- and I'm proud to be 30, I feel like I get more respect as a mother and in my career- it is like I'm taken more seriously since I'm not in my 20s anymore.
5. Where did you picture you would be professional/personally by the age of 30?
Depends- I've had different visions at different times- but I'm not far off from where I thought I'd be- mid-level career with room to grow, started my family but not done yet, married to the love of my life and very happy. That's what I pictures, but I wasn't really optimistic enough in my early 20s to believe I'd get it- but I worked hard to find those end results.
6. For those of you who are already 30+, what advice would you give to those getting ready to turn 30?
Don't sweat it- look at it as a new beginning.
7. Final thoughts or comments about turning 30/celebrating?
Just make it fun- do something you've always enjoyed- or celebrate in a new way- a new "sophisticated" way- look to the future and not back. Yes, 20s were fun and "fancy free" and from your blog- sounds like you did a LOT of school in your 20s- you have your 30s to look forward to enjoying your career free of the stress of school.
1. I will turn 30 in 2012. I know it seems far off, but it will go by fast!
2. I am honestly scared. I don't know what to expect. Obviously, 30, is still young, but it is old enough that I should be accomplished by then.
3. I would like to be in Hawaii on my 30th birthday. I have a tradition of embarassing my friends at their 30th birthday parties, and since I'm fairly young compared to the rest of the group, I don't want to be on the continent when they all get revenge.
4. I would hope that my quarter life crisis will be over by then. I am hoping that before I'm thirty, I will know what I'm doing with my life and I won't be so indecisive about it.
5. Of course, I have no idea what to expect or what kind of goals to set for myself.

2. I'm honestly bummed. I don't feel very accomplished, and 30 = "real adulthood" to me.
3. My bff has suggested a cruise, which sounds fun, but my family would lynch me if we were doing something fun instead of suffering through Christmas.
4. Not yet, really. I suspect will begin TTC soon thereafter, though.
5. *sigh* I really thought I'd have some sort of nice, professional, respectable career. I work FT, but at something most people don't consider a "real" job.
