resume & cover letters
Do you ladies provide a cover letter when submitting a resume?? I've never done this before & was never asked for one. I'm a Registered Nurse. I'm starting to fill out apps for AZ now & the first one has a spot to add a cover letter w/the resume. Do you think it's necessary? Should I come up w/something? Anyone work in HR?
Re: resume & cover letters
I am in the unemployment boat, and finding jobs and submitting cover letter and resume is definitely all most a job in itself. Submitting cover letters is as important as submitting your resume. If you are applying for a nursing job, for instance, start with one and keep it as a template, so that the jobs you are submitting to, you have the groundwork laid out with the template, just personalize each one for the company you are sending your resume to. I hate doing cover letters myself, but it makes it easier to have one and work on it.
I am casting a wide net, and not sure which industry I want to be in, so I have to personalize to different industries. You can try going to google and typing in "cover letter template examples", there are some sites that have them, like www.about.com, and many different types of cover letter examples.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Ugh, I know! I just started filling out the apps & it's gonna take me forever! I am employed, but looking to relocate. From what I looked up already, this cover letter thing is gonna take a long time to do also. I'm wondering if people in the nursing field just don't really look for them or what. I've applied for & got multiple jobs w/out ever doing one or ever being asked for one. Thanks for the help. Guess I'll get started on that now too. I just wanna be in AZ already, geez! Good luck w/your hunt as well. Are there many open positions out there for you to apply for??
Thanks for your help. Guess I never really realized what it was for & that's what you're supposed to do. Def. think I should do one now though since I'll have to interview over the phone, so it'll help to be able to put some personality into a cover letter for them. This is gonna be a long process, I'm afraid.
