Romantic Arkansas

Where do you all like going with your hubby around the state when you need some time alone? I love going to the Buffalo River for a weekend trip. It is so beautiful and peaceful. We are looking for new places to go. Maybe some places that are only popular to locals. Any suggestions? Anyone ever been on the Arkansas Queen for a dinner?

Re: Romantic Arkansas

  • I have no idea but I am interested to see if anyone has any suggestions... I'm not too far out of Little Rock.

  • We have not been able to do this one yet but will real soon! We have always wanted to go to Mufreesboro to the diamond park to dig diamonds. I decided that anything we might find out there will be used in a ring or necklace so we will have the memory forever. Kind of corny, but I think it is sweet. :-)

  • I am dying to check out Eureka Springs and Hot Springs but both are touristy, from what I hear.

I have no clue what locals like since I've only been here 3 years but I do love Mountain View and want to check out the newish lodge they built on Mt. Magazine.

  • Mt. View is one of my favorite places too! It is so beautiful up there!!! It is perfect to relax and be completely at ease. Plus the white river is close so there is nice trout fishing!! :-)

  • Good luck EVER finding a diamond in Mufreesboro.  Its been YEARS and YEARS since they found one.  We used to go every year in high school science classes, and no one ever found anything but a sun burn there.  It is kinda fun, but don't get your hopes up.

For a little AR romance, we like to go to the Gallery Walk in Hot Springs.  Its the first Friday of the month, and all the art galleries stay open late and serve wine and apps, and it is so fun to walk around and admire the art.  We love it!

  • There is a cheap and cute little Italian place called Cafe Prego in the Heights in Little Rock. I love that place.
  • I know this isn't "romantic" but we love to go ride bikes around the Big Dam Bridge.  Eureka Springs and Hot Springs are fantastic places to go.  The River Market in Little Rock on Saturday mornings can always be fun.  Also, Mt. Magazine has an awesome lodge overlooking a gorgeous view.
  • Me and my hubby actually went about a year ago and like the day before some little girl found a pretty big diamond..and all we found was misc rocks and stuff.. still fun though!!

  • yeah they have pretty much picked all the diamonds out of the park but every once in a while people find something.  It's been a long time though.  it's more fun to go when it is raining or has rained so you are out in the mud! So fun!
  • Eureka Springs is great. My husband and I went there on our honeymoon and so did my parents. We stayed in treetop cabins that were really romantic. It can be a little bit touristy, but if you get out and wonder around there are a lot of neat things to do. Also, there are a lot of spas in the area! The area is also called 'Little Switzerland' because it is so beautiful!
  • The spa at the Eureka Springs Crescent Hotel is fantastic for romantic weekend getaways.
