I may never grow from seed again.
I have killed my seedlings and started over. The second round of seedlings are meager at best.
Then, I find healthy tomato plants 4/$1.14. I bought 8 plants for less than $3. I found the varieties that I wanted too.
Now, if only I could find some sweet basil. Last year I had no problem finding it, but this year I have difficulty.
Re: I may never grow from seed again.
I used to majorly suck at starting seed. I'm a little better this year, but things haven't gone in the ground yet, so there's still plenty of time for me to fail.
You're not alone.
You can "make" a basil plant from a bunch of basil purchased at the grocery store:
-cut the end off the stem.
- strip all but the top 1-2 pair of leaves
-place in a glass of water. Add/change water as needed
-Wait.
In about a week or so, you should have roots developing in the places you took off the lower leaves.
