Help me plan a weekend getaway with DH!

I'm trying to plan a weekend getaway for me and DH.  Here's what I'm looking for.  Please help with any suggestions.

1.  In Texas

2.  Accessible to golf and spa

3.  Fun, happening town/city

Any recommendations would be great!

Re: Help me plan a weekend getaway with DH!

  • DH and I love going to the Gaylord Texan. It's in the Dallas area. We're not golfers, but I found this info on their website "If you're feeling more active, take in a round of golf at Cowboys Golf Club, the world's first NFL-themed golf course."

I can't recommend it high enough. I love their rooms, food, spa, everything!

I've never been here, but they have two golf courses that get great reviews. It's a full resort, and it's close to downtown San Antonio. Bonus: It's not a long drive, so less complaining from the DH about the travel. I'm sure that's not just my husband who doesn't handle the travelling part of vacations well ... Wink

  • Horseshoe Bay Resort!!!

It's got top golfing, and a spa.  We went there for our mini moon after the wedding.  It's not really a 'happening' city from what I could tell - but there was a lot of fun stuff to do around the area.  There is the bay - so there were water sports available, but we didn't try any of them.

We didn't venture from the hotel often, if you can't tell.  Embarrassed

  • We went to the Hill Country Hyatt in San Antonio for our birthdays a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure they have both spa and golfing.
  • roughcreek.com

LOVE this place.  Friend of mine got married here.  It's close enough to Ft.Worth that you can go there for the day if you want.  But Rough Creek has tons of great resort activities for free or extra stuff you can pay for.  When I went there we did horseback riding and ate in the restaurant (yuuummmmm).  And of course they have pools and a spa, etc, etc.  Perfect getaway spot.

  • Another recommendation for the Hill Country Hyatt! I love their spa and we enjoyed the golf course a lot. I also like La Cantera! AWESOME golf course!

We went here last October and LOVED it!!  We had a couples massage and it was to die for!  The hotel is lots of fun and you can easily make a day out of it.  Downtown grapevine is a cute little town kind of like Fredericksburg.  It's also really close to Dallas if you wanted a more fast paced area.
