Can I use *only* Borax to wash my dishes?

I've been wanting to make my own dishwasher detergent but have had a hard time finding some of the ingredients.  (Borax, Washing Soda, Citric Acid...)

In the meantime, can I just use Borax?  Can I add regular baking soda?

No, I don't think you can. I think it would be too harsh. You can buy both washing soda and citric acid online if you cannot find them in the store. But, would your grocer consider ordering these things for  you? Do you have an Indian grocer, cake supply store, or pool store near you? Those are all places to buy citric acid (it is called PH Up at the pool store).

I also found the washing soda under the name of "PH Up" at target.

I was going to say - I would expect "pH UP" to be the Washing Soda, and "pH DOWN" to be the citric acid.
