Re: Mother's Day Wish List

  • I could really use some ideas on what to get my mom. I always have ideas (lots of them) until now. She never buys herself anything...EVER! And I have a rule about not giving appliances as gifts.

About my mom: she's 51, works full time as a ward clerk in a nursing home. I did get her a fair amount of jewelry while I worked part time in a jewelry store. She's on a diet right now...actually in a weight loss contest at work and she's doing so well. Oh, she has Lupus, so she is on a restrictive diet anyway...can't eat any dairy. She loves fairies and angels, but ugh! She doesn't need anymore of that stuff.

Whatever it is, I can't spend a lot of money. She knows I don't really have a lot of extra cash and said I shouldn't be buying anything because I'm moving this weekend, but I can't not get my mom a gift (we're celebrating my b-day, BF's b-day, and mother's day all this Sunday after the moving is complete.).  BF wants to get her a breadmaker, but I just don't want to because it's an appliance and she's on a diet (my dad is also a diabetic so they shouldn't have lots of bread in the house anyway)

  • I want a lot of things.

One a new job.  Spa day, vacation with the family and without the family, new purse, clothes since I just had a baby, makeup, a new house, sleep, many many more.

Most important time with my family! :)

  • I am getting Paris for Mother's Day this year.  Big Smile

  • On actual mother's day, I want to spend the day with DH and DS (we're participating in a children's hospital fundraiser), which is the gift I asked for.

But a bouquet of flowers wouldn't hurt either.

What I would really, really love is a whole day, like from wake up to bed, to spend by myself in a clean house. To watch TV, lay around in bed, eat junk food, and not feel guilty. If DH could pack up the kid and go to his mom's for a day (not on actual mother's day though, that would be lonely), that would be a great gift. I never get a clean house to myself. I'm either at home with DS, or alone cleaning the house or working.

  • Mon, you could sit down and write your mother a dazzling letter telling her how wonderful she is, how much you admire and  respect her, how she makes you feel, what a great mom she is, listing some actual specific great things she's done for you and for others, etc. She'll save it till the day she dies, I promise.

Then throw in a flowering gardenia; they're dazzling and not expensive.

SO SINGS MY SOUL *WHAM!* MY SAVIOR GOD TO THEE *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!*

  • I always get my mom a gift certificate to the garden center. We then go pick out the plants she wants for the season and we spend a day planting and cleaning up her garden. She used to do the same thing for her mom before she passed away. We make her brunch at our home too :)
  • I bought my mom something for her slice.

I am not a mom yet but I would ask for a cricut expression.
