Hi, I moved to the Columbus area (about 40 mins south of Indy) about two years ago, and I have had a very hard time making friends my age in the area who are married. We have been married for 6 months today (yay!), and I have been falling into a slump and I'm getting super bummed that I don't have any girlfriends to hang out with, go shopping, etc. I have a few single friends but I am noticing more and more that we are drifting apart, especially since the wedding.
I'm really trying very hard to keep positive, but I am becoming more and more homesick. I came from a big city and I still haven't adjusted to small town life.

I also love shopping and going to the mall to try on clothes and window shop. I am in a similar situation since I am in the divorce process and all of my friends are married. I still hang out with them but eventually I will most likely want to find some single people to hang out with too.
Small town life in Indiana can be a hard place to make friends!
I always suggest volunteering as a way to meet people with similar interests. Maybe there is a womens shelter that could use help organizing clothes donations?! I too am a girly girl who loves clothes and shopping, and have found volunteering with women getting on their feet VERY fulfulling!
Beyond churches, there are also local womens sororities that are both social and philanthropic groups. Check out both Psi Iota Xi and Tri Kappa. I believe there is a Psi Iota chapter in Columbus.
Hope you find some fun ways to get more involved in your area!
I second volunteering! It's a great way to stay active and meet people.

I also recommend volunteering. While I haven't met many in my organization around my age, I've met wonderful people with similar passions
I would also recommend looking at meetup.com to see if there are any groups in your area focused on some of your interests - for example in the Indy area, I participate in the vegetarian meet up, the graphic design meet up and the doxie meet up I'm not regular because of my crazy schedule, but it helps get me out there to find people with similar interests.
I have searched on meetup.com and haven't found anything but I will give it another go - I did not see a group for doxies. I will have to see if they have a group for rottis or animal rescues Thanks for the idea. I am planning on starting to volunteer at the local animal shelter Should make me feel more involved and it will definitely get me in the community. Thanks for all your suggestions.
