Trader Joe's

My dad is coming to visit and my mom is going to send along some Trader Joe's goodies (we don't live near one, but they do)

I have a small list of things we have had before, but want to try some new things. What are some of your favorite things from there?

Re: Trader Joe's

  • DH and I just went to one for the first time yesterday and I'm loving the roasted red pepper hummus - I snacked on it all evening :)

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over!
  • BBQ sauce ("sweet and smoky with just the right amount of kick" written on the bottle)

    Quinoa

    Nitrate-free pepperoni

    Bagged arugula

    Sprouted grain breads

Natural peanut butters (creamy and crunchy)

    Reduced sugar jam

    Peach salsa

Soy-flax tortilla chips, especially the "spicy" ones that aren't spicy, but really taste more like Doritos, only healthier ;)

    Dark chocolate bars

    Black licorice Scottie dogs

    Inexpensive cereal

    Quick-cooking steel cut oats

  • We love their vegetable fried rice; it's in a brown bag in the frozen section.  We add tofu and broccoli and YUM!

The organic popcorn with olive oil and sea salt is good too (it's popped already and comes in a big greenish bag).

Edamame shu mai are really good (in the frozen section).

The fruit leather at the checkout stand is good too.

  • Their version of Pirate Booty

Simmer Sauces (they come in all kinds of varieties, you cook chicken or fish or veggies or tofu, simmer it in the sauce, serve over rice or pasta and voila, delish meal!)... I love the Indian ones (all great, the Korma is sometimes really really spicy), the Cuban Mojito one, and the Italian ones.

Starter Sauce - if you (like me) rely on pasta and sauce as a backup meal, these are great. Tetra-packed, they're just tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and (maybe) basil. Really fresh tasting. 99 cents!

Nuts, dried fruits, trail mixes can be had there for way less than conventional groceries.  Ditto Couscous and Quinoa

Their yellow corn in a can is... breathtaking. I'm NOT a fan of canned veggies, but this stuff is amazing. Seriously good.

    froz. mango

    harvest hodge podge froz veggies

    canned chicken in water

    brown basmati rice

jarred peaches and pears (and sometimes mango, but not always)

  • Will they be able to bring frozen food?  Paneer Tikka Masala.  I LOVE that.  There are 7 boxes in my freezer right now (I take it for lunch a couple times a week).

eta: yeah, I know, its convenience food, but so, so yummy, and if you need to take lunches and have no way to prep lunch, its better than a lean cuisine.
