what do you plant in containers?

flowers, not veggies.  I put all my geraniums in hanging baskets, and I'm trying to decide what to put in my pots.  I'll probably put some vinca/impatiens in them, but want some taller stuff too.  Any suggestions or pictures?  I'm not good at picking out combos!

I bought some of these at a plant sale and some sites say you can put them in containers, but would they overpower other stuff?

I really like coleus.  The focus is more on the foliage than the flowers so it would create a nice mix.

I think those are great.  It would just depend on what else you put in the container and how much of each.

They might look good with astilbe.

I just did a planter the other day that consisted of a plant very similar to coleus (I forget the name), a pink dahlia, and vinca vines.  It turned out really pretty!  Also, I like doing trailing petunias as well.

I just did a planter that has a small bunch of dracaena spikes in the center and then 3 Go-Go white begonias and 3 light pink mums alternating around the outside.  I also bought some sweet potato vine and portulaca that I plan on putting in a hanging basket in a very sunny spot.  I love the lime green color of the sweet potato vine, it's a fun accent!

Here's what I've got in my planters this year. I know you already have geraniums, but here are a couple other items I planted at the start of April, and they've gotten much bigger and prettier since then. (By the way, I've been enjoying your blog!)
