Can anyone make a recommendation for me?
We'll looking to put a small, slow growing tree in the front of our house. A lot of people on our street have dwarf weeping cherry trees, which I really like, but everyone else has them. We're in zone 6-7 and I think its a 'partial sun' area.
Also - any ideas for a nice bush to put in front of the steps to hide them? We are removing what is currently there (its about 4' high, 3' wide). Its the same location that the tree would be. Something flowering but relatively easy.
Thank you!
Re: new to landscaping
How big do you want the tree to be?
We looked for about 2 years for a tree in our front yard. We finally settled on a Winter King hawthorne, and so far I'm pleased with it.
Maybe abelia for a shrub? Or azalea, or rhododendron?
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010

We had a dogwood (the previous owners planted it right smack next to the house and of course it died).
I'd like it to be relatively small...maybe 5-7' high? Its going on a slope in front of our house...
Criteria: Small tree, slow growth, partial-shade tolerant, zone 6-7, specimen (possibly curb visibility/focal point)
Suggestion: Japanese Maple
